tire size...

could anyone here translate how to turn 235/75/15's into it's inch tire measurements, and vice versa? Also if you know the correct, or factory tire size for an 88' 4rnr, I would appreciate it. I am supposing that the factory size was best for gas mileage, unless anyone has a diff idea about that.

the factory tire size is a best guesstimate.
the gear ratios are usually geared towards best economy though, since if they weren't, there'd be hell to pay for taxes.
and given that tire size, you're running a large 29 / small 30.
I run a slightly larger tire, 245/75r15 on my 91 2wd / automatic and get 21+ mpg around town.
