Tire carrier swap question

Have seen lots of post of guys that have done the swap. So my question is for those that have for a long period of time.

Any problems? I run 33"s so they weigh more than the stock tires these carriers were designed to carry.

Does the set up need to be re-enforced?

Any input is welcome.

Just can't pony up for a badlands or other bumper. I already have a marlin.

Thanks!!

yeah swapping in a rear tire carrier rack. Mounts from the side to the tailgate. Common on 2gen 4rnrs and a couple other manufactures ese them also.

Red face

You kinda have to use your own judgement why not build one that mounts to the bumper .

Then your going to a heavier then stock tire if this mounts into the body think huge reinforcement then if your going to be off road it needs to be able to handle more abuse.

Then the normal stock ones you see at the mall.

^^ agreed. Build one onto your existing aftermarket bumper. That's what I plan on doing if I relocate my spare tire.

As for the stock one, so far like the mitsubishi one most. But needs to be re-inforced

Have read guys have cracked the 1.75" tubing with doing that. But if you got a design for re-inforcing, not covering taillights, still open tailgate, and that doesn't look like crap then shoot through me a bone.

I know right? That truck is awesome! Makes me wish I had an extra $27K.
And I was getting concerned about buying some new tires. LOL.
