timing chain guide

Simple question. If I used the wrong size bolts in some of the holes for the timing chain cover.Would that go into a water jacket?Have the 22re motor but soon as installing the cylinder head and getting everything fixed I started it up and check the oil and it was nasty looking apparently antifreeze mixed with the oil. this happened real fast.I took the timing chain cover off and inspected where the chain rides .it didn't look like it rubbed a hole in it .now .I'm just wondering if when I put the timing chain cover on if I used maybe a longer bolt and penetrated a water jacket .I just can't believe the antifreeze and oil mixed that fast

That sucks man. If you have coolant in your oil you are looking at serious issues. Are you sure that the chain hadn't worn through the cover?
