Question timing belt issues

I just aquired a 1990 4runner with a spun rod, and the crankshaft was too far gone. No worries though, cause' I found a used short block for cheap.

Now I am running into a couple of problems that even left the dealership scrathing there head when I asked them.

The first of the problems is the timing belt. I know that the design of it slightly changed after the 92' models. So when I go to order one, which one do I choose? The 90-92 timing belt? Or, the 93-95 timing belt? I know that the main differnce is the belt tensioner on the two models. If I was to stick with the 90' model timing belt is there still holes in the 94' block for the belt tensioner?

I know that this is asking alot but any help will be appreciated. If all else fails then I will just buy one and see if it works. I am just trying to avoid having to go through a whole online return process is all.

Thanks
Budro

If you have a 90 runner, why would the change in 92 affect you?

Get the 90-92 belt. Are you sure its not chain driven?

He's talking about the 3.0, I think. The belts ARE different. Was the replacement a later model engine?

yeah

The engine that I bought was out of a 94' runner, and I was told that the belts are different from the 88-92 models and the 93-95 models. (or something close to that) So now I have a 94 3vze bottom end and 90 3vze heads (and up). So do you think that the bolt holes for the older style timing belt are still on the 94 3vze block. (hmmm this sounds like something I can look at by putting em right next to each other. (I'll do that when I get it back from the machine shop)) input would still be great though.
