Throttle sticking at idle

My throttle is sticking at low rpm but I can pull the pedal back and it will drop the rpms back down. Any easy fixes for this??

This happens in my 81 and I can see the throttle return spring is weak that is next to the carb. Haven't figured out a solution as the dealer does not list the part number at all.

22r or 22re? mine kinda sticks because the cable itself is frayed a little and as mentioned above the return springs really wore out. Mine's a carb'd 22r with a weber. Rigging a return spring solved most of my issues, might not be as simple to do on a 22re though.

It's a 22 re I tried to play with the spring by the pedal but that didn't help. I will try the wd 40 and see what happens

not just the spring at the pedal but on the throttle body as well.

Go ahead and spray the WD40 on whatever, but I'd disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body linkage and atleast try to pinpoint what's hanging up. I mean, it could be the throttle plate itself, but you wouldn't see it if you hadn't looked in there or cleaned it in a while.

pull the cable out, and spray some carb-cleaner into the cable itself to clean out the garbage..
I did this, and it came out black on the other end.
Next, go buy some white-lithium grease and lube up your cable.
