Throttle body gasket.

I am replacing my idle air control valve tomorrow (thanks to anotherjeff) and will have to pull off my TB to do so. I had it off just a few months ago and replaced the TB gasket at that time, so I was wondering if it is truely necessary that I do so again? The reason I ask is that none of the local autoparts places carry it so I would have to drive out 20 miles to the dealer. Your input would be greatly appreciated!

if the gasket isnt still in good shape, you could probably get a sheet or 2 of gasket material from any auto part store and cut one yourself, thats what me and a friend did when we rebuilt the carb on his '70 c-10 a few weeks ago

That's what I have done many times...with the same sheet of gasket material!

Sheet of Gasket material = $5
Saving $50 on gaskets....
AWESOME

Its kind of an art to making good gaskets, just takes a little practice and a very sharp razor blade... well worth it!

Reuse it. I've done it many times. Just torque it down a little tighter. But, be careful it doesn't tear on you.

Its not like the head gasket, you can re-use it a couple times. When it wears out, use Permatex.

I really doubt your going to suck the Peramatex out from betweeen tow machined surfaces and down the intake.

Whatever, man. I've reused gaskets like that....if they've not been on too long.....for years. I've NEVER had a problem. And permatex......you'd really have to goop that crap on and just plain not pay attention.

This holy roller junk is just that.
