Thermostat bypass hose

My truck started spraying coolant on the ground so I looked and it seemed like the previous owner capped off the outlet on the thermostat housing with a vacuum cap that burst. After some research I believe this is where the thermo bypass hose should be. I looked and I have no idea where the hose would connect to if I had it…. Right now I have it capped off again with some 1/2" hose, a barb, and a pipe cap.

My question is where would the bypass hose connect if I had it? I tried going through the fsm and schematics online and couldn't find anything on it.

Also what is going on if I have it capped off?

Year, model and motor info might get you a faster response

I don't know, just suggesting an idea

Good luck

Not sure I'm familiar with any outlets on the tstat housing other than the radiator hose. 3.0 V6? Maybe you're referring to the hose off the water pump for the oil cooler?

Sorry, yeah it's a 94 truck with a 3.0.

It is definitely off the thermostat housing that the lower radiator hose goes into. It might be directly into the block behind the housing, it's hard to tell with a flashlight. I have never seen anything like it, but I'm not that familiar with yotas

That tube is part of the water pump. Hose should run under the oil filter to the cooler which mounts to the block behind the filter. Probably capped on the other end too.

its the for sure the hose from the water pump to the oil cooler could be that someone ordered the wrong water pump (if you don't have the oil cooler) and just said f##k it. if that's the case then throw an oil cooler on it.
