tapping/knocking sound.
Ok I have a tapping/knocking sound from the top of my engine. I adjusted the valves and bought new valve adjuster screws, still have tap/knock. When the valve cover was off i looked at the timing chain guides and the left one looked fine, but the right one was movable with my finger. I looked down there when i moved it and it was moving around the bolt that holds it down. I tried tighting the bolt with a wrench and its tight as all hell. Did the timing chain guide break and causing the noise?

It sounds like the plastic guide broke and the chain is slapping between the guide and the cover. If you let it go to long the guide could break apart and fall into the oil pan or wear through the cover. Its possible that the broken piece(s) could get sucked into the oil pump pickup and thats no good for oil pressure.

Ok another question.. there is only one piece chain guides correct? becuase my driver side guide deffinately moves and if it is suppose to be one piece that is what is causeing my horrible noise. Or its the fact that my rocker arms dont completely line up with the cam shaft lobes. Its slightly off would this also cause my noise? And would shimming the rockerarms help or no?

yeah the guide is only one piece so if you can move it a lot its probably broke and that is most likely your problem, if it is your problem make sure to replace it with the kit from engbldr with the steel rail on the driver side and depending on your miles might want to do the wp while your at it!
