tans stuck to block?

ok im trying to put in a new clutch and i have done everything that the book says about removing the trans. Im at the part where you should be able to pull the trans away from the block, but its not moving. I have removed all of the bolts and everything. Does it just require more force like when parting the drive shaft flanges? 95 4runner sr5

nope should come right off. (perhaps a little gentle nudge with a pry bar but nothing hard for sure)

my guess is you missed a bolt somewere... how many do you have in your hand?

On another vehicle I once had the input shaft bearing seize on the shaft and in the crankshaft.

I had to use a hydraulic jack to seperate the trans. Very scary.

Make sure the angle is right. I just did this job myself for the first time last week and had the same problem. Once I raised the tranny up a bit, they seperated fairly easily. Still had to pry gently to get things started though. My center bearing was in pieces once I got in there, so that may have been part of the problem.

Did you get the bolt that attaches the starter, it goes into the bell housing from the front. That held me up for a while when I did my clutch.

Something I've been using on the past couple clutch jobs I've done. Run a ratchet strap from frame rail to frame rail under the output of the trans and another looped under the bellhousing. Then you can raise and lower the front and back of the trans independantly. Plus you can slide the straps front and back on the frame rails. This has cut sooo much time off my jiggle-jiggle routine trying to trannies to line up.
