sway bar disconnects
I have a 93 pickup 22re with ifs and want to make some front sway bar quick disconnects.Can someone please point me in the right direction of a diy page or somehting.Thanks.

I removed both of mine and never looked back. For a daily driver that spends more time on the road, I'd probably use a set of disco's. If the vehicle is off-road more than it's on road, just remove them IMO. I don't want to get into ANOTHER debate on this, I'm just stating MY personal opinion.

The stupid thing is that you can make disconnects for less than the price of a 6 pack... so why risk it? You need some threaded rod a couple nuts, and a hitch pin. Re-use the rubber bushings

i would rather get the 6 pack heheh. the roll isnt that bad without a front sway bar. when i took mine off i kept on swerving on the hwy to see if it leans too much. its not that bad.

The pickups are not that bad. The stupid sway bar hardly makes a difference.. Especially when your truck is stock.
Remove it, drive it, see how you like it.
I havnt had mine in almost 2 years.

I have a pick and tossed it cant tell a difference at all and I am running ball joint spacers. I doubt you will notice a difference if your front end is tight.

Thanks matt16 for the pictures. When you disconnect the sway bar do you just remove the pin and the nut keeps it from poppoing off the threaded rod?

Can I vote for throwing the sway bar away (or storing it away)? With the Hi-Trac IFS, because of the torsion bars, you will not really notice that it is gone, EVEN in emergency situations. My 4runner has a bit more pre-load dialed into the torsion bars (about a quarter inch above stock ridge height, so basically stock) and no sway bar, and it rides like a dream.
Most of us take it off when we realize a link has been broken for an extended period of time, and did not even notice. The links are a rip off, the the bar is useless on Hi-Trac IFS.
Now, for coil spring front ends, the story changes.
But, if you do worry about such things...the end links are straight on these trucks, you can make a quick disconnect easily with the right length bolt and correctly placed nuts, washers and rubber bushings. Really easily, and cheap. One trip to the hardware store.
