Unhappy swap 22re w/ 3vze ?

how much trouble would it be to swap out an 22re for a 3vze? my 4 banger quit on me, but it's in better shape than my v6 wich is not in that bad of shape itself.(4runners). the 4cyl. is an 86 and the v6 is 89 and runs like a champ even w/197,000 miles on it. should I even bother?

has anyone ever used this site www.toyotacarpart.com cheapest engines I could find. I found some threads for swapping out the engines and trannys and it sounds like to much trouble. Gonna buy or rebuild the 22re.

rebuild, or buy a new 22re. You'll be glad you did. 22re will last you longer if you take care of it. Its also alot better on aftermarket parts, easier to get more % of hp out of it than the 3 slow.

You'll need to swap out the tranny if you go ahead with the 4 to 6cyl swap. I would stick with the 22RE and either fix it or drop in another one. I've had both engines and the 4cyl is by far much easier to work on.
