suspension advice please

I am sittin on a 94 4runner with stock everything (I just bought it), a healthy dose of butt sag and poor stability. I am looking for 1"-3" of lift, (nothing too serious yet, as this is still my daily driver for a few more years) and better handling. I plan on riding on 32" tires.

I have an opportunity to buy some land cruiser coils for $50.
1st- is this a good deal?
then what, should I add new ball-joint spacers on the front to even it out, since the coils are going to give me about 3" of lift in the rear?

After this I need to get new shock all around too, right? I was thinking Bilstein. What size will I need for a 3" lift?

Would you guys recommend this, or should I just go with some Downey HD coils and do another form of lift (body vs. suspension)?

I appreciate any feedback.

SAS, D60's front and rear, arb front and rear, 4 Link front and rear, coil overs front and read, full exo, SBC swap. That ought to do it.

Lol!! I would just do BJ spacers and Coil Spring spacers. Easy to do and cheap for 1.5" of lift and 32s will fit with no problems.

That's a very typical response from what I've seen. Is it really that hard to try helping people?

Sorry I can't do any better as I don't have a runner but from what I've read that sounds like a good plan. Might want to consider adding some OME shocks too...

Air bags in the rear work miracles for butt-sag. My buddy has em on his '93 and with the cargo area loaded down and pulling an inclosed trailer he still sits perfectly level

IMO this would be the cheapest, and the most reliable. And it will give it a very nice stance.

Thanks fellas for the advice, and of course I would love to do the SAS, but I just had a baby boy about 6 weeks ago, so no time and no money. But he is worth it and we'll have plenty of time to go wheelin' in a few years!

i'd say the $50 cruiser coils(possibly cheaper then spacers) are the way to go. and then bj spacers up front. also maybe look into shocks and a steering stabilizer. did wonders for my truck.

i'm runnin ome 900s in back,ome shocks front & rear & cranked torsion bars.wrks ok for me.also took the rear sway bar off.

My rig sits good for 33s so you wouldn't need as much for 32s

Sorry, this is with some pretty bald 32x11.50s with a T-Bar crank and 1.5'' lift Eibach springs (yeah right) so about 1'' maybe.

I have OME 901 HD coils in the rear. Gave me 1.5" lift over stock and 3-4" over my sagged position. Not to mention 500lbs more load. Then I put Air Lift bags to help out when I'm loaded down. Up front I have OME HD torsion bars and 1.5" control arm spacers. Changed all my shocks to slightly longer and heavier duty. The ride is great and more than enough to put true 32s.

is it possible to swap the rear leaf setup on a 1st gen for the coil spring setup on a second gen?

"Possible".... well yes. Easy? No. I'm assuming you are really asking if it is a bolt up type of thing? You could just as well do a custom coil setup but if you know how to do that, you don't need to ask about whether or not it is possible. It's not a bolt in at all. Having had both suspensions in 4runners I'm not really sold on either.

Leafs are way better. Can get better articulation from what I have seen and are a lot cheaper and easier to get big lift out of.

This is very true. The only thing I see right off as a benefit of the linked set up is the lack of axle wrap. Soft flexy leaf springs suffer badly from axle wrap. That, however, can easily be fixed with another link though and it is much easier and less expensive than converting to coils.

I don't want to put the air bags in my truck but i have been looking at the OME rear coils. did you need the BJ spacer to level the front with the new rear springs?

my old 90
3" body lift, 2" coil spacers in the back ($7.44ea at advanced auto), and the t-bars cranked 2" sittin on 35x12.50x15s
worked great for the money i had and what she got used for
