Supercharge an 89 toyota pickup carburetor 2.4L 4 Cylinder 22R engine
As per the title, I'm curious as to the possibility of mounting a super charger to my pick up. Looking to add some horse power has got me thinking, what does it take to give it 40-50+ hp? Ive done some surfing and haven't found any clear articles, posts, forums as to the specific changes that i wish to make to my truck.
It would be great to hear if it's possible to add a supercharger, and if not, what would be good to add to the engine to give it some more power. Running on 100hp does feel a bit annoying especially if i'm putting along at 60mph on the high way trying to pass someone.
Also this is my first post on the yotatech forums, so, don't hate? >_<

I am sure you can do this but any horse power gain will be so very expensive. Why not much information is around.
The 22R series of engines is not really a great platform for building horse power.
You want horse power swap in a small block chevy then as the rest of the drive train breaks up grade that as well.

I have seen the Engine Builder head and cam with an LCE header make a big difference in horse power. But like mentioned by others, if you are wanting substantial horse power, you will be upgrading everything else or the cost is not going to be worth the gain for the additional horse power.
There are turbo trucks out there and they have some horsepower but to convert and build one would be about as expensive in my opinion. Overall an engine swap would probably be your best bet.
