sudden change in oil pressure 3vze

I was driving home a few days ago and my oil pressure went from its normal just above half on the gauge to nothing. pulled over checked for leaks (well more than usual) and checked the oil level and such but nothing obvious. bringing the rpms up causes almost no change in pressure but then, sometimes it will just jump back up the randomness of it makes me think it might be a loose connection or bad sender. is there any way to test the sender? any other things i should check out?

mine is slow to react to rpm, fresh rebuild and new toyota oil pump
installed new sensor now it does not move.I need a bit of advice on how to test the gauge.
I pulled dash and unplugged harness, all gauges bottom out,oil pressure stays bottomed out and does not move up or down.
