In a mission to remove my tranny from my 96 3.0 I have managed to booger the end of the one starter bolt that is put in with the head facing the engine (backwards). I had a 14mm wrench on it but it screwed it up. I really dont have much more time so I guess im going to have to have it towed into the shop. There is no room to work up in there. Im too frustrated and covered in oil thats coming from God knows where. Hope your day went better than mine.

they make a set that digs into your stripped bolt, looks like a socket, if theres enough room maybe you can get one of those on there and get r out! sorry bout ur luck..

I still love this truck. It leaks oil from every gasket/seal it has. But damn its going to wind up costing me more than I paid for it. And i dont make much money yet.

lol any old truck you buy will end up costing more than its worth, especially if you start moding.. but buying a new truck....you end up paying more than its worth too lol kinda weird

Use a bolt extractor.

I cant seem to get a ratchet on it. The only thing that will fit would be a wrench. I cant see it either. There is no room to even move really. If i was to drill it I would have to remove everything From the top down engine-wise.

the extractor i was talking about you can use a wrench on the end of it, if that helps....stainley makes it i think, i bought mine at advance...

Well I got a socket on it. I got a new extension so that I could reach it from the front of the vehichle. On the FSM description its not supposed to be in this way. It supposed to be bolted in the same direction as all the others. So at somne point the person who rebuilt this thing put it in backwards. Either way I cannot bust it loose with all my strength. So.It may have to go to a shop cuz im out of time and may have bit off a little more than I can chew with this equipment. Id rather be replacing head gaskets. Id be done.
