Stretched E-Brake Cable Fix

So after 238k miles, my parking brake is pretty marginal...it's at max adjustment, and won't hold on too much of a hill.

I didn't really want to drop $40 on a new cable right now while I'm saving for a rebuild, so I got to looking at the old stretched cable and came up with a cheap and simple fix.

1. Loosen the adjuster all the way.

2. Wrap the (now very slack) cable once around a short bolt, and clamp it on with a nut.

3. Tighten the adjuster to an appropriate amount of tension, and bingo - tight e-brake cable again!

Sure, it's a temporary fix - and my cable was so loose I ended up using two bolts, and making an additional loop in the cable. But it works, and it's nearly free!

I'll try to snap a pic later.

Ever try adjusting your rear brake adjuster? That helps too.

Yeah, the rear brakes were adjusted correctly. Sometimes the cable just gets too stretched to be effective anymore.
