strange problem starting 87 22re
So I am having trouble when I first go to start up my Toyota 22re. Cranks well and battery is good. I usually have to hook up my other vehicle to jump start it after cranking it over awhile but I can always get it going and runs great once its going. Just rebuilt it about a year ago. After its been running awhile, i can shut it off for ten or more minutes, then try starting it again and it starts right back up great. So i dont know where the issue of when I'm first trying to start it up in the mornings and it cranks over and over but wont start up is coming from. Seems pretty weird to me, please help me out!

If you need to put a jumper battery on your battery is about shot or you need to put it on a charger to get it up to full charge.
Just how long do you crank this over??
When working correct these engines start up.Even after sitting for a few weeks
Sounds like your cold start injector is not working could be mechanical or of an electrical nature.
Then the over all condition also effects starting. once warm it is much easier.
Last tune up for sure this is not correct.

If your battery is going down that fast due to long cranking time, you have a bad battery or the long cranking time I would check to see if your Cold Start Injector Timing Switch is bad. It is the brown sensor under the thermostat. How are the valves adjusted? Check all of your hoses and the hose to the Fuel Pressure Regulator needs to be hooked up correctly. It will run if not hooked up correctly but does make for a hard start. When was last good tune up like mentioned earlier? All hoses connected and no leaks?

I paid to have engine rebuilt and they also did the tune up after the first five hundred miles I believe. Which was about a thousand or less miles ago. I crank it over for five or so seconds at a time but takes several tries to get it going is the only reason I need to jump the battery. No leaks but possibly the high school kid they had working on it didn't hook the hoses up correctly. Where do I find the proper way to hook them up? Research it looking for a diagram of this online? Sounds like it could be the cold start injector timing switch possibly as well, I will try replacing it first if i can find a diagram of how the hoses should be connected. Thanks guys!

I would but I just hauled it up to Idaho where I'm living now and it was done in Colorado so I want to do it myself so it will be done right and taking it back to them is no longer an option. Trust im not happy about it and their work.
