Stock Yota Axels with 39.5s and 5.29s

Hopefully gonna be getting an 84 tomorrow and just thinkin about what I'm gonna be doing to it. I've got these 15/39.5x16.5x15 super swamper boggers hanging around, and a set of 6" old man emu springs, so I think once I remove the bed, and boat tail the front, I'll be able to clear em no problemo.

Just worried about the strength of these yota axles. Most my experience are with jeeps swapped over to DanaR60F/80R full width 1ton axels, not these 1/4-1/2ton yota axles. How do they hold up?

And I was thinking about throwing some 5.29s in there, but not too sure if that 22r will spin that much meat. Should I go 5.71s instead? Dunno, just lookin for thoughts here people!

So birfields the only thing that needs beefing up? Some nice cryo'ed (overkill or justified?) chromoly bir's and I'm set? Seem to remember that you supply some nice ones

What about the gears? 5.29s be dandy, or should I grab hold of some 5.71s?

You need some Longfields...chromo birfs and axles for that kind of rubber. You will also be fine with 4.88 gears IMO for a trail rig. I have 39.5s and 4.88s in a 5 spd 22RE and it does just fine.

Your gonna break 5 minuets in without at least Longs (as I think the bigger axles may be in order soon. Longs will hold perfectly to the abuse of 39's. Be sure to get the inner hub gears so you have the full warranty which is lifetime

You need to upgrade to longs to do this

Well I tend to have the go big or go home mindset lol

Your kit for $665 comes with birs and shafts right? Might just be ordering some off ya sometime soon if that picture isn't lying to my eyes lol.

Would love to be able to get 20mpg with 39.5 with 5.29s if possible Dont mind 65mph being top speed wot downhill lol.

Those are 37's? They look gigantic on your runner! Shoot, I may just trade these 39.5s for some 37s...

Dunno, thinkin hard about swappin in some 44fronts and 14bolt rears... I dunno. Figured I'd just bomb the stock axles till I nade it then build it bigger! Gives me a little time to save up some more money from my beer drinking funds...

if you lighten up your truck enough and dont give it any power you might be OK on snow and mud...

like take the bed off, chop the cab, take out anything you dont need, like bumpers and what not, etc...

and then dont gear it to the moon

hahaha

or do what they said

Oh yeah, bed is gonna be toast by about 8:00pm tonight if all goes well today. A good portion of frame from cab back eventually too (tubular 4-link). And a couple pounds of sheet metal from boat tailing the front.

I think I'm just gonna pop in a set of cheap ass 5.29s, gernade the axles, then upgrade to some full width chevy's or some dana60s...

Well, first I'd have to save for them, then find them, the R&R them, then gear them, then install them, then have drive shafts made for them. I want to do some carnage as soon as possible.

A D44 is not an upgrade IMO.

Buy some Longfields and gusset the knuckles and be done with it.

Sure, just drive on down to Texas. Just about anywhere in the country to texas is the same as me going to north texas from south texas!

Alright Wab, you sold me. So you think the rear will be fine for now?

And actually, I've got a line on someone selling 4 36 iroks with 50% tread for $100. Think I might pick em and run those a while first.

Now I'm having to wait till either tomorrow or wensday to get the dern truck... Found out you can only take $400 out of the ATM at once per day. Grrrr....
