Question Steering Wheel Noise? (video)

This noise starting happening within the past week, I cannot figure out exactly where it is originating from. Has anyone else experienced this and been able to fix it?

The sound is coming from inside the cab.

Ha! Yeah, mine kinda does that, too. Sounds a little like PS pump on an old Ford truck, but right behind the wheel. Ya gotta take the wheel off, and put some electrical contact grease on the ring that the horn contact follows. Pretty simple, I just haven't done it.

Yea, I had the same problem... It's just a bit of rubbing on that horn contact. No big deal.

This problem goes along with the horn that only works in certain positions of the steering wheel. Fix is remove the steering wheel, clean off old dried up green grease, sand the copper contacts, and apply new grease.

Seems like an easy fix, thanks guys. Now my next question is about removing the steering wheel, I have the Toyota FSM for my truck but it does not mention how to remove the pad from the steering wheel, I am assuming I can just stick a straight screwdriver in there and it will pop out? I don't want to mangle it by prying.

DON'T pry it... There are screws on the backside that you have to take out (3 of them). After you take the screws off, THEN you can pry it off carefully. There are wires that disconnect for the horn that you probably don't want to break... lol. I can snap a pic highlighting the screws if you need me too. It's pretty self explanatory though.

Yup, sounds just like mine with some beat up plastic around the column. I don't have another set of tilt column plastic, and the rest of the truck is usually loud enough that I don't hear it, it's not hurting anything.
