Starter Solenoid Help!!
Sorry, this is for my '46 Chevy, not my 4Runner. Help is still greatly appriciated!
Is it bad to have the starter solenoid always on when the ignition is switched? (Click link below for my diagram.) Or should I install a push button that only gives power to soleniod when it's being pushed in? (I have a foot pedal starter, so constant poewr to starter doesnt hurt. Stock with 6V wires straight from battery to starter.) I'm just concerned about the starter being on whenever the ignition is switched. Thank you!

you should only get power to the solenoid wire only when the key is turn all the way forward. use a multimeter and check it out.. remember the hot starter lead should come straight from the postive side of the battery and go to postive on the starter which usually on most starter is actually on the solenoid.. make sure the engine is well grouned to the frame. and the battery negative.. its your chocie on how you want to start your truck.. i would just put a inline fuse link it your coming straight from the battery. when u turn the ingition all the way forward the light amp load will engage the relay switch that will usually complete the circut for high amprage load to the solenoid so the starter will engage when the key is all the way forward.
