SR5 cluster conversion
i have an 87 p/u, carbed not efi. can i do the sr5 conversion and have the tach work? i currently have a sun pro for a tach, apparently its a hit or miss if your truck is wired for a tach, the cluster is from a runner im pretty sure because if you hold it up in the light it has the back door light.

Yes...I converted to the SR5 cluster and the tach works great. Some people get lucky and can plug and play. I wasnt lol. So what I did was took the signal wire from the after market tach I had and plugged it to a screw in the center or the back of the cluster. There are three all in a row. "P" "IGN" and the 3rd is some jap writing. Hook your tach signal wire to the "P" screw and you are good to go.

Also make sure that when you swap clusters, if the new cluster has an oil gauge that you get the oil sending unit for the gauge. If your stock gauge cluster has an oil light and you don`t swap sending units, as soon as you turn the key on with the new cluster hooked up you will fry the oil gauge.
