Unhappy Speedometer drive diameter?

Hi y'all, I think this might be my first post, can't remember, know I've lurked here a while.

I have a little 89 2WD beater truck, 22R, 5 speed. The engine is an 86, has at least half a million miles on it, I traded a shed for it. A few months after I bought it, the transmission (also 86, I think) deceased, as in came completely apart internally, shattered. I hunted for a few weeks and finally took a chance on a 5 speed from a 92 extended cab I had been eyeballing in a u-pull it yard for some time. The shifter was extremely sloppy which may have been why it was the only one sitting in a yard within 4 counties.

I got lucky, it turned out to be a good one and the shifter slop was just the little plastic bushing on the lever. No prob. Trouble is, the housing for the speedometer drive gear was not on the truck I pulled it from. The one from the older trans is physically quite smaller than the hole on the newer trans. This is a mechanical speedometer. I've got a rubber freeze plug in there so I can drive it, is roughly 1.5".

Does anyone have any idea what junkyard vehicles I may be able to find the correct gear housing on so I can hook up my speedometer? Toyota dealer parts dept here is utterly clueless. Am I going to have to machine an adapter?

I appreciate any advice I can get.

Anybody?

I've done a little research, seems that a lot of these were electronic speedometers, if I luck into the sender, can I wire in an electronic speedo cluster? Anyone have a schematic for the speedo circuit?

Hard to say but knowing which transmission you have would help a lot. Not that I could help, even, but that would help none the less.
Otherwise, I'd have to say a 91-95 2wd with the same transmission you have.
