Speed Problem with my Toyota pick up

Hello, i Recently Changed the Alternator and switched from 29" tires to 31" tires and ever since i did that my speed has went down ALOT and i know the tires would bring it down but not as much as i thought it would, Dropped from top speed of 150km/hr to 120km/hr.

Is it possible if i installed the wrong alternator that the speed would drop?

Thanks and any help would be great.

The alternator has nothing to do with your speed, your slower now because of the bigger tires, there also heavier, and you still have the stock gears. Another thing to remember is that your speedometer is now off also, so you didn`t loose as much speed as you think you did.

You do realize that your speedo isn't going to read correct with the bigger tires now don't you? You probably are doing close to the same top speed you had before, but the speedo is going to read less.

If your going to stay with the 31'' tires, then you will need to go with 4.88 gears to get to were you were stock. Im running 4.88 gears with 37'' tires but i also have duel cases and it works fine for me.
