Solid Rear window to Rear Slider Conversion Questions!
My truck is an 86 REGULAR cab 4x4. I got the rear slider window to replace my solid piece, but it didn't come with a gasket. And it doesn't look like my gasket will work. I need a gasket from a truck with a rear slider, correct? And is it the 4x4 vs 2wd or the reg cab vs ext cab that affects the size of the window?
Thanks

It's reg cab vs ext cab. 2WD and 4WD are the same. And no, sliding rear windows don't have a different gasket(it's actually called a weatherstrip), it's the same as a solid window. Notice the rib sticking out from the middle aluminum window frame all the way around it? See how it's the same thickness as the glass was? There's a reason for that...
I should also mention that the years you would've been looking for if you needed a gasket are 84-88. The earlier ones are too small, and the later ones are too big.

OOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGG I COULD HAVE HAD MY TRUCK THIS WHOLE TIME!!! BAAHHHH
THAAAAAAAAANNNNKKKKKKKK YYYYOOOOUUUUUUU!!!!!!
i was trying to put the gasket in between the two ribs. Instead of on both ribs. I will go give it a try. The people at Toyota found two different part numbers for the 2 gaskets tho, and the people at Yota Yard said theyre different, also. But thanks!

Want to fix or replace glass on your Toyota? Don't ask the dealer, ask a glass shop. Guy that helps me at the shop does glass. Amazing stuff. Those back windows pop out and back in with a piece of 1/4" rope.
