solid front brake lines; is there a better way?

94 4x4 22RE 194k

I just changed my pass side brake rotor and need to do the driver's side. The crappy brake line design requires me to break the line open to remove the caliper from the knuckle.

Two questions:

Is there a recommended upgrade to bring a flex line to the caliper from the frame?

Is there a good way to temporarily plug the brake line to minimize fluid loss during the brake job?

uhhh there is a rubber "flex" line that goes to the hard line on your caliper. I usually use a pair of vice grips on that rubber line to pinch it off so I dont lose fluid

On my solid front axle brakes, I just notched out the bracket where the hard line attaches. That way, you can pull the little clip that holds it in place and the n slide it out of the notch to pull the caliper away.

or take them off and replace them with rubber lines to give you slack in the furture wow i cant spell

Do not pinch off the flex hose. It can and will damage it, I see them collapse internally once in a while, makes the caliper stick.

I use a vacuum cap to slip over the threaded end of the brake line to keep fluid loss to a minimum. I picked up a kit like below and the red caps are a perfect fit for the brake lines:
