92 3.0 5 speed xtracab pick up and just installed a 2 inch body lift. One of the problems encountered after the install is that the steering wheel became harder to steer. I loosened the bolt that holds the steering shaft to the steering box before the install and tightened it back afterwards but did not actually see it pull up when body was lifted.

Also, is there any way to put back the shifter surround (rubber and leather trim) after the lift without looking to get an extension? Im having a hard time shifting to reverse so i removed all the surrounding trim that you can actually see the outside!

yeah you can its not to hard to get the boot to fit again and as for the lift yeah when the body came up the steering shaft got a harder angle thus making it harder to turn and your also binding up the u-joints so i would unbolt it and make it slide again get it nice and easy for ya hope it helps

if the steering got hard after the lift kit install, the steering column is binding in the bushing through the firewall, or at the flange to the steering box.
the lift kit should have included new parts to retain the angle of the steering column through the firewall, or at least a new bushing to allow the steering column to pass through the firewall at the newly required angle.

bought the kit used (no complain about that), so what i need to do is unbolt the shaft from the steering box and let it play (no driving) and bolt it back? About the bushing, i will check it too.

2" generally needs no adapter or parts aside of allowing it to extend with the nut under the dash.
I have a 2" on mine and loosened it up then lifted. Works just fine a little bit stiff but nothing worht worrying about.

the firewall bushing for the steering column was designed to work at the installed body to frame mount distance.
the flex coupler at the steering box can accomodate a 2" lift fine, but the steering column through the firewall has issues.
back in 93, I put a 2" body lift on a friend's 92 toyota truck and the kit came with the firewall bushing/plate.
or rather...
it came with a plate to mount on the firewall that compensated for the change in steering shaft / wheel angle.
