So now I have a transmission issue.....

I know I don't have many posts on here, and i usually don't get a response but i really don't know what else to do. I've had problems with my truck since right after i got it. it doesn't make the power it should. i've been trying to get that sorted out but now i have a much bigger problem. No matter what i do it won't shift out of 1st gear. i mean i can shift the leaver and it goes from park to neutral and reverse and all that just fine but if i start down the road, as i accelerate it just never shifts. the only thing i can say for shure thats wrong with it besides the missing muffler is a bad tps but it was like that before this issue came up. this is my only form of transportation. if i don't figure this out soon i'm screwed. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Might get ahold of a Factory Service Manual and follow the troubleshooting steps in the AT section.

I don't think it will shift at all if your TPS is totally screwed...Or at least if I remember correctly that's what happened when I unplugged mine.

Have you checked to see if you have any fluid? Is it clean?

I've come to the conclusion that its the tps. with it unplugged it shifts early so i have to hold it in a lower gear to accelerate reasonably. if i do this the shifts feel fine, and no strange noises or anything. with it plugged in it doesn't shift at all. ordered a tps a minute ago. also noticed a loose wire on the back of the plug for the sensor. anybody know how i would go about replacing this plug? the idl circuit of the tps tested bad so i know i needed one anyways but i'd like to fix this plug when i replace the sensor.
