So my 1991 runner met a concrete

retaining wall this weekend at 55 miles per hour or so. Other than some mild whiplash I am fine. (a testement to seatbelts and these great vehicles) Although it was pretty much stock I had it just how I wanted it: 160,000k (new timing belt, fuel filter, plugs, wires, front hitch, interior etc.) Not to mention I loved having a 5spd and they seem pretty rare nowadays.

With that said, I really liked this truck and want to try and fix it or get it fixed.

I found a donor 4runner with a blown enguine of the same year for $500
What would a mechanic charge to switch parts from the donor runner to mine?
I dont have alot of skill/tools to attempt this by myself

should I take ALL the damaged parts off beforehand or leave them?

Some more pics of the aftermath minus the hood/bumper. I am very sad

same thing, but mine was on the other side...

u gotta:
replace fenders, weld that piece back onto your frame (its that little piece that's bent back next to your frame), replace rad supports, wheelhousing, fan, fan clutch, belts and water pump while ur at it, battery, hopefully not an ECU...

but if u have a donor truck, go for it, its kinda fun to do that

sorry but that thing is totaled, no body shop in their right mind is going to work on it. your truck just isn't worth much and with the right frame horn tweaked i would guess that it is probably buckled as well. you could swap everything over but without the time, skills, and tools its not going to happen. sorry but you are probably shopping for a new runner or swapping the motor out of you total into the donor. you could always buy it back and part it out. sorry that sucks

that frame horn is this piece right?

well, the front rad support attaches to it, as well as the bumper. Cut it off and weld it back on... ull never be able to bend the sucker back.

And its not totalled. If you do it urself, its quite feasible. I went from this:

to this:

to this:

to this

all for about $1500... it would have been around $200 if i had a donor truck

no that piece is the the core support mount. martian's is a lot harder hit than yours xyz, it looks like yours was all above the frame rails while martian's took a direct hit. could you get some better pics of the frame martian? sorry for stealing your pic but this is my area of concern.

honestly if u have a donor truck... just swap all ur SR5 working stuff from ur totaled truck into the donor... will be a helluva lot easier, and u might be able to sell the extra parts and make a little cash
