well i finally go tmy overheating issue under control and fixed and now theres another problem. i drove my yota to work a couple days ago and when i got there i noticed smoke was comin off the side of the cat converter. it would only do it when i hit the gas. it wasnt a huge amount but def enouhg to notice. what could cause this?

I have a subaru doing this, and it's caused by oil dropping onto the cat. Does it smell like oil or just exhaust?

The front U-joint on the rear DS slings grease on the cat after its been greased. Have you greased the DS recently?

nope i aint greased nothin recently

i think it jsut smelled like exhaust. i didnt really get down there and smell it tho. so i guess that means i got an oil leak. great

could be the u-joint just failing and slinging greas on it

maybe even the slip-yoke on the front drive-shaft? I guess only if you've been higher than say 15mph in 4wd recently though, lol

i jsut hope it aint an oil leak. oh yea its a magnaflow hi flow cat if it makes any difference. its been on there fro about 4 months

My '86's rear t-case seal leaks gear oil when its really warm, the oil get slung onto the cat and stinko. Give it a go looks see. u bolt/ seal no big deal. Have you driven it much since the cat/muffler was new?

Yep when i ran a cat, i had grease slinging on it it was always smokin

oh yea ive drove it a bunch. unless i jsut aint noticed it jsut started doin it. its dont jsut roll off it constantly mostly jsut when im hittin the gas to pull out

thats a good ider al.. ill jsut take the sucker off so it cant smoke! haha
