slider install?

When you guys weld your rock sliders onto the frame to you put a piece of plate between the frame and the round tube or just weld the tube to the frame? I'm thinking when I install mine I'd like to do some plating to distribute the stress when the slider encounters a rock.

Ideas?

absolutely put a piece of plate in between, and not straight up and down, but diagonally... <>, not []

gusset it with a diamond shaped plate with right angle pieces connecting the gussets and the plate.

just weld the tubes to the frame. Works fine on mine. I have slammed them pretty hard of some rocks and trees and have yet to bend.

Yeah the 85 quickly got higher in price than I could afford so I'll finish up the little things on my truck and keep an eye out for another SFA 4runner.

Although this might still be "working for you", it is not generally the accepted way of mounting sliders. The steel that makes up your frame is not thick.
