signal lights

Hey everybody,

I have a 92 Yota Pickup gas 3.4L ext cab. When I turn, like most people I turn on my signal light, left or right. Lately after I'm done my turn the signal doesn't shut it self off. Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas for a fix?

Thanks

i would take off the steering column and try to lube it up a bit and see if that help

Edit: i feel like on my 91 mine dont stay on long enough, and if i were to turn at a 4way, and a cop was to then left or right when i turn in front of him, he would say i didnt use my signal.
but i would deff fight that in court.

Im not familiar with the mechanism but I second taking the steering column off and checking it out. There is some kind of gizmo that causes it to click off as the wheel comes back around. Im sure if you poke around in there you can figure it out

There is a 'cam' on the steering mechanism that engages the turn signal in order to click the turn-signal lever back to 'off' when the steering wheel returns to the 'center' position. It's probable that either the combination switch (the turn signal lever mechanism) or the steering mechanism has become damaged or worn in such a way that the cam on the steering is not pushing the lever properly.
You would have to disassemble the steering column in order to figure out what is worn or damaged and what needs replaced.

I actually just recently got a ticket for supposedly not signaling.
The cop only saw my vehicle after the signal had clicked off. I fought it in court and won

hi-jack (sorry)

my turn signal quit working, when i turn left the lever goes down, stays but no signal unless i flip the hi-beams on or jiggle the thing, and sometimes it makes this horrible buzzing sound. if i pull it down to make a left (signal) slightly it works but its a pain to hold down half way. pushing the lever up for a right turn is no problem and works fine. could this cam thing be my problem? sorry for the hi-jack, ive tried searching but no luck, an these guys seem to know how this thing works. any help would be appreciated greatly
*already pulled it apart, didnt know what to look for, but everything looked fine to this untrained eye.
