shortening wheel base

recently i totally anhilated my frame the othr night so im going to make a dual tube frame of some type. but was wandering the way to actually cut driveshaft. dosnt need to be balanced or anything just was wandering if anybody has tips on doing so

A nice big horizontal band saw would work, then clean up the end with a lathe. Easy job for a local machine shop.

if you have a bandsaw that it will fit in.

That is about the best way then a lathe to remove the flanges before welding.:jessica:

Maybe a carbide grit blade but you will go through a few boxes of them and it will take 10 hours. And after you will still have to use a lathe to clean it up and get the cut to be 90 degrees.

"Sawzaw" will work just fine for cutting it. Its just a pipe.

But if you want a straight cut, a chop saw or bandsaw.

Big pipe cutter or a band saw. It needs to be half way straight even for a trail only rig.

i plan on tearing into it soon. our big four wheel event is comin up in 3 months and i want it ready

can it be too short. dont have as much tube as i thought i did. was thinking just enough lentgh to have the springs mounted on
