Hey guys,

I need to find a shop in/near Lakewood, Colorado to fix my LSPV. Snow's moving in and I don't have time to deal with it.

Short synopsis: my right rear brake was sticking so I took it apart and found that my wheel cylinder was sticking. Replaced that but could get not it bled. Kept getting air, air and more air. Odd thing was, at the LSPV I was getting nothing but fluid.

So I took it to a shop with a great reputation that has always done great work for me. Hi-Tech Import. But they just don't seem to know what the heck they're doing with the LSPV. They put an MC in to try to fix it, to no avail. So now they say the LSPV is screwed up and that they don't have the tools to fix it (scales, I guess?). But the scary part is that they keep saying I screwed it up by bleeding at the LSPV. Both the FSM and everything I read here says that a proper bleed job MUST include the LSPV.

So two things: 1) I need a shop who can deal with the LSPV and 2) they are dead wrong about not bleeding at the LSPV, right?

What's the actual problem? Just the bleeding?

Yes, you need to bleed the LSPV.

The Longmont House of Wrenching will be open on Saturday December 15 - that's where I would take it ... but then I live there, so it's awful convenient.

LOL - not 100% convenient for me, but thanks for the recommendation!

Yeah, right now I have no rear brakes at all. Like I said, I just get air, air and more air. A little fluid and a lot of air. I pumped it at least 1000 times! So Hi-Tech now thinks it's the LSPV but like I said they seem to be totally baffled by it.

Sounds like you either have a bleeder open or a cracked brak line somewhere.

Be careful - the front/rear isolation on Toyota trucks is not real good, you can end up with no brakes!

Yeah Mike is into the hardcore stuff for sure LOL. You won't find a better guy to do business with and his knowledge about Toyota trucks is unequalled, he started off as a factory trained tech at one of the best Toyota schools in the country. You are very lucky to have him so close.

I know dealerships can be a pain in the wallet but Burt Toyota on Broadway is the only dealer I trust when I've needed them and they are honest and reasonably priced if you need the fix quick.

Thanks guys! Hi-Tech finally got it. Don't know what the problem was. They said they just had to bleed it until they turned blue and it finally came together.

Turned out they weren't really baffled so much as frustrated. They're down a mechanic right now (a lot for a two-bay shop!) and really busy. I can sympathize so I gave them another crack at it and they got 'er done.
