shifter probs with body lift
the truck i purchased has a 3inch body lift on it and it had ripped shifter boots on it and i got another set from the local junk yard but with them installed the truck jumps out of 2nd 4th and reverse, was wondering if there is a way to fix this or if someone else has had this problem. thanks in advance

almost all the information you'd need can be found here http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/BodyLiftKit.shtml
for the shifters, you can try inverting the boot, or cutting the boots in the right places can reduce the stress on the boot, which will reduce how hard it pulls on your shifters.

They probably didnt extend the shifters when they did the body lift. Or you might need to get rid of or mount the lower black part of the shifter boot under the tunnel instead of the on top. There is too much rubber in there to let the shifter sit in gear. all that rubber is forcing the shifter out of gear. or the shifter seat and socket could be worn.
If the shifters were extended and all the rubber boot is not the problem try these shifter socket and shifter seat from Marlin Crawler.

if none of that helps your prob may be more complicated. shifter forks or somethin in the tranny.

The other way around it is basically relocating the shifter boot plate. I have done this in the past with short body-lifts. Basically you move the plate until it doesn't bind when you shift then drill new screw holes in the plate and then secure it back down.

sometimes you also need to extend the hole if you don't dog leg the shifter. Your transmission is 3" lower than it was intended therefore not allowing the shift to go through the range of motion it was orginally designed for.
check your transfer case selector too, I bet you might have a similar problem with it knocking itself out of 4WD.
