Shift retainer Replacement: How to install trans breather vent

So I have a '92 4runner with a 22re, and g58 5spd. I had gear oil leaking from the rivets (that hold the shifter in place) in the shift retainer(tower), and was told that i needed to replace the assembly. Long story short, I have to install a new breather into the new shift retainer, it does not come installed...info that would have been nice when i ordered the new retainer and oil deflector plate. Since the new cast aluminum shift tower does not come with the breather installed, and it was $86 from the dealer I don't want to break anything trying to put a new breather on it. The breather opening is not threaded, so I'm assuming I will have to press or tap the new breather into the retainer?

Is this a metal on metal fit? No sealant or lubrication needed?

If anyone has can confirm the appropriate way to put a breather into the shift retainer assembly I would appreciate it. I have checked forums, google, etc...and let's just say that the guys at the local dealership aren't that helpful.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the diagram. I was good with where to install, I just didn't know the procedure. I figured it out. If it comes up in the future....you can just put a 14mm socket over the breather cap (so as not to damage it), and tap it into place with a hammer. I used a shot of silicone spray to ease it in....it didn't want to seat easily when dry.
