Shes Alive
The other day i finished droping in my new long block 3vze. I have a 1990 p/u Auto tranny 4wd. I bought the truck with a blown head gasket and had no idea of any other problems im finding them now. I have tranny code 62 which last night i orderd new solenoids and filter.
My other problem and reason for thread is my speedometer odometer and trip do not work. when i get up to speeds of 25mph+ i can hear (what seems to me to be the speedometer cable) squeeling. I have searched and searched trying to see if i need the cable or the part that is in the transfer case with the gear. Beacause it is squeeling means the gear works right? Or is my cluster frozen? The tack still works tho. I have never dealt with one or even know how to change it ill figure that part out, im just asking for your thoughts on whats wrong. Any help will be appreiciated, Thank you.

You probably just need a new speedo cable. Go with OEM, they work the first time and fit perfect...ask me how I know.
Some people band aid the fix by spraying some graphite lube down the cable, but it only works for a while.
