shackles or new leaf pack?

ive got 200 bucks put aside thus far for lift, and im trying to decide if i should spend the 60 for an inch in the back and keep the rest for the front, or if i should go for a 2-3inch lift with complete leaf kit for the whole 200.

any opinion or advice?

I'm in a similar situation, my leafs are shot so shackles aren't really going to help in my case, so I'm going with the new leaf option. How flat is your spring pack, probably a good decider in the decision making process.

it is gettin pretty flat. it would probally help the ride too. my ride is pretty smooth, a lot smoother than most, especially drivin offroad at high speeds, but i think that may be the deciding factor. freakin money. anyone got 500 bucks they wanna give me? lol. either that or something to lift the front of my baby. and yes, i said give. for free. i'll buy ya a coke.-_^

yea, well, that would be the most obvious option, however, i enjoy having a nice ride and such, so i plan on actually doin it right. new control arms and torsion bars up front for my lift there, unless of course i find a cheaper better option. now if only i could find money for tires. lol.

Save your money until you can do what you want instead of wasting money on something you don't.

i want it to be higher, and ride smooth. i figure the 3inch leaf pack will be good for the back, and thats what i want back there, and i am saving the money for the front.

i just need to know if the prices all stay the same or if theres a discount for the package deals and how much the discount is. thanks.

This is an incredibly naive suggestion. There are REASONs they don't come from the factory like that....destroys your ride, puts excess pressure on the CV joints, endangers handling, to name a few...

I have the Shackle plus extra leaf springs on mine with my BJ lift to fit my 33 inch set-up easily.

u went add-a-leaf instead of the complete new leafs? the shackles do look nice though.

i may just have to call downey.

and i basically disregarded the comment about cranking the t-bars. yes, it lifts, but this is a dd and i rather enjoy my towncar like ride. lol.

so how do you plan on lifting the front then? because even with new control arms it says you have to crank in the lift with the torsions. and how do you know how stiff it rides if you never turned the bars up before?

i have been in trucks with the bars cranked. and with the new control arms and new torsion bars, it will allow for more cranking. therefore while as it is now i could crank 2 inches and be riding on a rock, with the new setup i could crank 2 inches and still have another 3 to go, which means ive got the ride softness of now with it uncranked an inch. at least thats where im coming from.

Why not just keep the torsions how they are and throw in some balljoint spacers and new shackles for the back?

Thats what $200 will get you.

i understand why you want the downey setup. i did too. but i cranked my tbars on my 2wd and they really weren't that bad. i did about an inch to match some shackle that i made. i'd go for new leaves. i know what you mean when you say "flat". lol, no kidding.
