Oreillys has a buy 4 for the price of 3 deal going right now and I would like to replace the original shocks on my 1993 reg cab short box 4x4 DLX truck.

This is not my daily driver and will be used primarily for hunting

I've done the search and get conflicting reports as to how the Rancho 5000 shocks ride. Seems like people either love em or hate em but $150 for 4 isn't too bad of a deal IMO

Is there another Monroe shock that's better?

Forgot to add that I have an ARB bumper up front with no winch yet but if I find the right winch I may put one on. Don't know if this makes much of a difference in determining which shock to go with.

So the Rancho RS5000 would be right at $150 for all 4 and if I went with Bilstein HD's I'm looking at about $280. Just not sure if the Bilsteins are worth almost double. I know they are a fantastic product but not sure if they are worth almost double what the Ranchos come out to be

I will also have quite a bit of weight in the bed when tooling around the ranches in Mexico. We put high racks in the bed that weight 200lbs and then will have 3 adults in the rack for a total of around 1000 lbs

Bilstiens are worth every penny if you need them, I have sensatracks and it still rides like a truck. But rides way better from the cheapos that was on it before. Next time I need some I will get Bilstiens without a doubt I just couldn't swing it this last time around.

x2, bilsteins are the best shock for the $$
how shocks ride relates to the valving, for example typical bilstein valving for a toyota is 70/255. rancho 5000's come in different valving also, so if you get a heavier one it will ride rougher

The Monroe shocks will be shot in less than 30k miles; my last set of Bilstein were replaced at 118k miles....and still in decent condition!

I have no experience with Rancho....
