Seat swap in a 91 x-cab

I have a 91 x-cab that im itching to throw some more comfortable seats in. I find that the stock toyota seats are far too small and leave my back feeling like hell after even short drives.

I also wish the seats sat lower in the vehicle to begin with, I am on the long-in-the-torso side of 6' tall... my head is practically against the roof of the cab. Has anyone found any seats with better support than the stockers that also allow for more headroom? I did some searching but couldnt find anything pertaining specifically to dimensions. I find the seats in my 98 firebird very comfortable, but the brackets look utterly different... if i have to modify i guess im willing to but if there are any options out there that require less work and are readily available at the JY I would love to know

Thanks

SMurray

I love my 85' MR2 seats. They sit nice and low, yielding more head room. Adjustable lumbar support is They aren't particularly wide though. However, I am 6'3" and fit in my short cab easily.
Also, they were free on craigslist I would suggest perusing your local listings.
Good Luck!

Had to do a little fab work to make the rear brackets fit though.

i had 60/40 bench seats in my 93 xtracab. i found some mint condition 4runner sr5 seats at pick n pull for 65 bucks. sold my old bench seat for 60. the passenger side bolts rights up, but the driver side, you will have to drill two new holes.

My neighbor has E36 3 series seats in his 3rd gen short cab. They look pretty comfy, but I haven't actually sat in them for any significant amount of time. Might be similar brackets?

why not just get some SR5 seats out of an SR5 truck or 4runner???

my '92 4runner is an SR5 and the driver seat is fricken amazing..my '86 pickup seats are crap..it's horrible..i'm gonna have to find a good set for my '86 before i take my girl muddin LMAO

and you can make just about any seat work in your truck..just make sure they aren't too tall..like the Dodge Neon seats in my '80..lol..my head bounces off the roof LMAO

Its a bolt in swap, just swap the inner mount with the seat belt anchor.

MKIII Supra seats FTW. Ten way power adjustable driver's seat is comfy as hell. They're by far the most comfortable car seats I've ever had the joy of sitting in, which is why I put them in my Pickup when I put a Recaro interior in my MKIII:

Thanks.

The power options go like this:

Seat bottom:
-up/down in the front (just behind knees)
-up/down rear (under you bum)
-slides forward/backward

Seat back:
-lumbar in/out
-side bolsters in/out (REALLY good at holding you in the seat no matter what angle you're at, or how hard you corner, and go really narrow for skinny people, and VERY wide for wider people)

Man i had a bench seat for 20 years
Seat bottom:
-dog hair
Seat Back:
-More dog hair
Now the sr5 4 runner buckets are way cool, and ya know when i moved to Ca. i could not bring bucket seat. I hated leaving it at the junk yard.

I have a '92 Xtra Cab with the 60/40 in it and the driver side is horrible. No rips and they look great, but it sinks down so bad when you sit on it that it crushes your nuts and then your back is in the wrong spot, so it starts hurting after about 5 minutes of driving.

It is basically impossible to find any decent SR5 Runner or Pickup buckets by me, I have only found them in CA and the shipping kills it.

Gonna take it to an auto upholstery place and have them re-do the foam on the driver seat and back rest, maybe add a little lumbar support. Hopefully it will be comfortable after that.
