seat belt\retractors

Ok as we all know the seat belt retractors in our vehicles seem to get weak or wear out. This means your seat belt wont retract when you take it off.

I tried the writeup with adding a few turns to the springs. This didnt work for me.

Does anyone have a good source for seat belts ?

I checked the dealer yesterday and they want 140 dollars for each belt.

looking for ideas or source for replacements.

Yes, I've used them. I put them in the back seat of my 86 4Runner. The ratcheting mechanism catches very quickly (quite sensitive). When you pull out the belt to latch it in, you have to pull it out slowly, otherwise it will catch. If they have it in stock, delivery is quick. They didn't have the exact color in stock at the time I needed it, so got a slightly different color.

For the back seat of the 1st gen 4R the belts have to be shortened to work correctly. Scissors, sewing machine with regular thread & needle work. Just run it back and forth about 10 times.

HTH

The one on my drivers side is in need of replacment.

Is that 140$ price thru northride? If not thats only 105$ then... Better

I may try the spring trick on mine, it only doesnt retract the last 8 inches.

Clarification: The same belts work for both front & back. You just have to shorten them if you want to put them in the back. Chances are GotBelts.com has the color of webbing you need. They're only $75/ea.

The downside is that the buckles are all black with red buttons.
