Seafoam to Find Vaccum Leaks!!!

So I thought I'd post my Seafoam experience today, not quite what other people have experienced, but a good experience none the less.

I've been having a rough idle when warm and was getting desperate so I thought I'd try the Seafoam treatment. I have used it in my gas in the past with little noticeable difference. Today I wanted to try it in the intake.

So following what others on here have suggested I poured the Seafoam into the brake boost hose with the engine running. After several minutes the exhaust started smoking pretty good, then I noticed smoke coming out from around the EGR modulator. Turned out that my EGR modulator had a hole burned in the bottom of it. Not really sure how that happened but I have looked the vaccum system over many times in the last week and missed this.

So possibly another way to find vaccum leaks!

FYI, my original problem was a loping idle when warm. My corrective action and results follow:

Changed PCV valve and grommet - not fixed.
Removed throttle body, cleaned it, new gasket - not fixed.
Removed plenum, inspected, replaced gasket - not fixed.
Checked TPS - good, not fixed.
Checked AFM - good, not fixed.
Previous owner put on new EGR less than 1 year ago so assume good - BIG MISTAKE!!!

I will update later this week when I get the new modulator.

I'll be interested to hear if the EGR modulator fixes this. I just bought a 1987 4Runner with about 320,000 mi and the only issue it has is it tends to hunt for an idle, slowly revving up to about 1200rpm where it suddenly stops and drops right down to 800rpm and begins a climb back to 1200rpm. The speed of the oscillation changes and sometimes it doesn't do it at all.

Note I haven't done anything at all to try and fix this because it's so intermittant I don't really care, and giving a little blip of the throttle usually makes it stop temporarily.
