Schreaching! when i push clutch in

with my truck idleing and i push the clutch in, it makes a real loud screaching noise and kindof has a rumble in the pedal, but when my foot is off the clutch it makes a little noise but very very faint only can hear it if under the truck.

however i have clutch no problem i can drive it.

now was looking online and people kept saying throwout bearing, but they said it started to squeak when there was no pressure on the bearing.

anyone have any experiences with a loud screaching?

throwout bearing for sure... although it is pretty weird to have one go out on a toy, maybe excessive water exposure (water crossings) etc... since these are, well should be..replaced with every new clutch!

when you press in the clutch pedal, the fork presses this bearing against the pressure plate fingers. Could also possible have a broke pressure finger? who knows... springs in clutches, pressure plate fingers etc have all had stories of failure.. bottom line, you need to get in there and see

hmm... screech and rumble depressed, light noise released?
... another vote for release bearing. I suppose it could be resonance in the pressure plate too but that still means you need to get in there.

... or you're making a movie with Screech from Saved by the Bell.

Anyhow, been a week. Any progress?

This happened on my 86' 4Runner when I first started it the other day in 9* temps. As soon as I started driving it the screeching went away.

Hasn't happened since in the 20* temps.

Not a good sound.

Not to rain on Swimmerboy's parade... but that's how my throwout bearing started complaining. On colder morning, on startup it would whine... I'd work the clutch a couple times and all was well. Then the weather got warmer and it wouldn't even do the initial tiny whine.

Then 2 months later it started up again, and got progressively more frequent and louder.

Throwout bearings seem to give you a LOT of warning on these trucks, you have oodles of time to muck about before you actually need to worry about getting the job done. I like it.

No, I really appreciate the heads up! Thank you! I'll prob just put a new clutch in when it fails.

Ya good plan. I guess whoever did my clutch disc and pressure plate last decided that new throwout and pilot bearings were not needed. :s My friction surfaces were in great shape... oh well, the new marlin HD kit works GREAT!
