Safe shackle length? 8" too long?

I want to raise my back end a little. Currently I have AAL and 6" shackles.
I got bj spacers and want to crank my torsion bars a little and raise the back end to match. Is and 8" shackle to long. This is only a temporary till I get my Chevies mounted up.

What do you think is too long to be safe?

Folks have run that long a shackle before, actually pretty common with the Chevy springs. Be sure it is braced and account for the pinion angle change and it should be OK. I ran 7" (center-center) shackles for quite a few years on the rear and front of my '85:
