rusting bed
going down the road today a piece falls off resulting in this.
i knew it was rusted but i didn't think it would fall apart going down the road. haven't had much time to work on the cosmetic parts as i have the mech parts. anybody just cut off the lower skirt all around the bed ?

I don't know the skirt was cut off with the rest of the bed. By the time it went to the scrap yard the skirts were in about 5 pieces and the rest of the bed 10.

heavy? who said it has to be heavy. I cheat though. Oh and "dry" weight, with probably 150lb in my tool box and me being close to 200 lb, truck weighs 3850 lb.

same here 85gijunk4x4. Aluminum as well, only thing I don't like is the steel rail down the length on mine which attaches the aluminum to the frame. The welds are starting to go. Not surprising though since welding aluminum if tough to begin with let alone welding aluminum to steel. I am gonna have to drill some holes so I can bolt it up instead. But i have had enough weight in the thing to put me on my bump stops.
GVWR on my door I believe says 5006 lb or something like that. Not that that is a good number any more since i don't have factory springs in the rear any longer.
