Runs Good Till I Have To Really Hit The Gas Pedal
Hey Guys, new here. My first toyota. it starts fine, runs for a few miles till I need to put it under laod like hitting the gas to cross and intersection or having to climb a very slight hill. all of a sudden it will makes a click, the check engine light comes on and it falls on its face. no power at all. just regular city driving it will struggle. Pretty sure it's not mechanical as it will run good till I put a load on it. can you make a suggestion on what I can check myself? I did disconnect the battery hoping to clear any misc codes and the problem came back. turn the key off and the check engine light goes out and I start all over again. I hear I can't buy a code reader as I have the OBDI and not the OBDII computer. kinda sucks, any sugestions???

Yes, you can buy a code reader. But they are very expensive. http://www.staples.com/Staples-1-Siz...product_525881
Here's the procedure (use your new "code reader" where it says to use SST).

Lollll! I just take my girlfriends bobby pins, scrape off the plastic and bam! Works perfect, and find a place to store it under the hood, and you'll always have your code reader with you! Had to come up with that one when my CEL came on in the middle of pismo beach out in the dunes
