Running like a chevy

Hello,

I have been a Toyota enthusiast my entire life and am proabably just as obsessed as all of the other Toyota owners, Who could ask for anything more?? haha here is my story...i am strongly considering swapping in an 85 22r into my 93 4x4. The 93 is of course a 22re but seems to have all sorts of issues from the previous owner. There r broken and missing bolts (that i can see) on the tranny, water pump, and exhaust manifold. This truck has spliced in sensors, 165,xxx miles, burns oil, lacks power and sucks down the gas. LOL!! Now, i know what ur all thinking (HG) but the truck purrs like a kitten with the TPS unplugged, I've tried timing it but have a bad TPS and the list continues to grow....Now i'm a pretty simple man and to me, figuring out what all is wrong with my 93 22re is beyond simple mechanic skills, and i could simply buy another Toyota pickup, if not several, for the price of what mechanics charge around here...In fear of spilling this can of worms, so to speak, i'm thinking it will be more cost effective to swap in this 85 22r than to fix the 22re...I've had my current Yota for two years and haven;t had any issues at all besides routine maintenace, the body and frame r spotless and "we" get positive comments daily

The 85 22r motor has right around 60,xxx miles w/ a newer clutch and is a single unit still bolted to tranny. The ruck rusted out with a heart of gold... I literally just stopped at the 85's previous owner's house. He is an old college proffesor and i was pleased w/ what he had to tell me about the life of his old 1985 22r..the motor also comes w/ transfer case, brand new exhaust system, windshield, hood, grill and all the other "lovely" accessories that get thrown in to sweeten the deal....$300 for the whole lot

Your thoughts on the matter please. I do not have internet but can access it at my local library after work...

p.s. smart alec comments encouraged!!

Thanks, Mike

Go for it! Only thing is emissions and if they are not looking better for you.

I have 22R to 22re swap coming next month, but my wires are good.
