Reverse LEDs
I know a lot has been written and answered about this and I have read tons of info but a lot of it is old or inconclusive. I understand the reflector in the reverse lights is part of the problem. I covered mine in foil to improve the reflectivity. Slight improvement but inadequate.
What are the best replacement led reverse bulbs for our trucks (86-95)?
I get to this page and I have no idea what is the most effective and cost effective solution:
http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...ompcarbulb.htm
Are 18deg or 100 deg beam angle better for this application?
Are the 1156-CW45-T best? They have 45 leds with a 360deg pattern. Are these worth the cost compared to the others?
Any feedback with experience with these bulbs would be greatly appreciated!!

I have the 30 light narrow beam (18deg?) Lamps from superbrightleds.com. they work great. Can't remember the cost though, but I am cheap so its been shopped
Huge improvement over stock with no mods.

Try chrome spray paint for the inside reflector bowl; i will be doing this mod this weekend as soon as my LED back ups show up. bought the paint a year ago and finally am getting around to pulling the tail lights and completing the project.
I bought the 24 LED 1156 from superbrighleds.com in natural white, I don't remember which beam pattern I picked; I think the 18' so I could get some distance.
4crawler has a decent writeup and pics using these bulbs.

yeah, here's what showed up yesterday for tail light and a clear backup light; 24 LED, I did get the narrow beam:
the tail light was noticeably brighter than stock halogen, can't decide if the LED reverse light is better or the same; it's much whiter and cleaner looking but not sure if it really adds anything. won't burn out though, so worth it IMO.
amber 9 SMD leds showed up for the corner markers on my taco and 4runner (168's), woo hoo!

here's a shot of the 1156-24LED backups plus the 24led red stop/tail light: on the left is the LED's, the right is stock halogens. hard to see the difference in the photo because of the flash but not a huge difference really. the LED backup is much whiter but not all that much brighter.
my '93 runner has 921 bulbs for the backups, pretty lame. thinking about some aux backups like I have on my truck ^^. bought those at autozone, they are 'driving' LED lights, also pretty weak but do help. fabbed up a metal strap around the tow bar and rivited it in place, wired it directly into the reverse bulb wires.
here's a shot of the same without the flash:
hope this helps, not trying to hijack your thread! just addicted to LED lights for some odd reason...

I just installed the CW-45's. OMG ( for lack of a better term) the brightest lights. I also installed the 67-CW2W in the hitch/light. Either one would work, both are super bright. I've used many different led's and these 2 are by far the best I've seen ( in my opinion ).
