replacing windshield washer fluid pump on 22re

how hard is it to install one of these? i think my is siezed as when i press it, it doesnt even make a sound. Its been empty since i got the truck (1 year and a half) and just recently i put fluid in but its not working. Do i have to remove the reservior?

Very easy to do:
1. Take credit card or wallet full of money to Toy Dealership, buy new pump.
2. Remove plastic res. tank.
3. Unplug old pump motor and remove from tank.
4. Install new pump, plug in, reinstall res. tank.
5. Fill with fluid and you are set.

I found one for sale at part source for $40 does that sound like a decent price? Also is it just a few bolts holding it on? first time removing tank

also: do i have to splice some wires to install the new pump? the reason i ask is because the new pump came with some wires?

go find a reservoir at your local junkyard and replace the whole thing. im not sure for our trucks but for my friends mm its easier to just throw in a new reservoir than change the motor

hmm well there is splicing involved then maybe it would be easier / cheaper to just get one out of a junkyard?

oh i thought you already got one, cause you said it came with wires, anyways maybe it would be easier. splicing is very easy though just go to radio shack and pick up some splicers, put the 2 wires in and close it on them. all done easy as that. it will problably be a lot cheaper to get a motor at a junkyard although it problably wont last as long. i suggested the resrevoir because my friend couldnt get the motor out of his but if its just a couple of bolts i would get just the motor. ask your junkyard how much for one and see if you will save more by getting a new one and having it last

A new OEM one from toyotapartssales.com is $35-36. And they are very easy to change. I did one YEARS ago so I don't remember all the details, but I do remember it was easy.

i just did this...bought tank and pump from ebay b/c mine were missing. it leaked and pump was rusted and broke when i tried to take it out and seal it.

save your time and money and DONT go to junk yard. i got a replacement pump from my local shucks or cragen or pep boys or what have you...i don't remember the part number but it said right on the package it works on asian imports including toyota, it was 36 bucks, came with a new seal. even the colors on the wires matched up (just two so even if they don't its easy to figure out) just splice the wires together and you're set. i think toyota used the same pump on all their cars for years.

Wow....I always to go to the local auto store get one cheap ($15)....since it's not a "crucial" part. In the US we have O'Reilly. I don't know what you have in Canada, but I assume you have some equivalent. The discount part works fine and lasts plenty long time.

As far as replacing yours, just pull the reservoir out and you'll see the little pump on the back/bottom side of the of the tank. Unhook the wire and put the new one in. Reassemble. Piece of cake.

IF you suspect any blockages, run straight vinegar through to remove calcium deposits. You may have to give it some time to dissolve things if the blockage is bad enough. Then, flush it with pure water....then put in washer fluid.

The reservoirs from the earlier trucks are larger than the ones from 92 on. They all fit in the same place with the same bolts. I bought one from a guy parting out his 89 and it works great and is larger. It should take a total of 5 minutes for the swap.
