Question Replacing rocker arm studs

I was having a good look at the rocker arm assembly. I think i need to replace the rocker arm adjusting nuts and screws. Can I do this when the rocker arm assembly is on the engine? I want to put it together but if it needs to be done with the rocker arm assembly off i will do it first.
I think they unscrew up from the top but I don't want to just start messing with things i'm not sure about.

Also does it really matter if they are banged up?

Other than that it looks pretty good (This is before I cleaned it up).
It has only have mobile 1 for the last 30 years.

I cleaned up a set of adjusters with my bench grinder before and used them . But when I built my new motor I bought a new set. Since you bought a new head might as well buy a set, they wont break the bank account.

But they install from the top right?
I want to make sure i can install he head and gasket. Then just unscrew then adjusters from the top with out removing the rocker arm assembly.

Yes threw the top, you can put them on after the head and rocker assembly bolted on . New sets with nuts on Ebay for $25 shipped, threw a dealer are $5 each, just the adjuster.
