This is my first post on Yotatech, but thanks to all of the folks on here I have been helped many times! Found out my 22RE has a cracked block between the 2nd and 3rd cylinder. Since I vowed to keep my truck "forever" I am having the folks at 22RE Performance build an engine for me. While I have the time and the engine is out does anyone recommend I replace anything else while I am in there? I am already going to replace my throttle position sensor and get a new header and exhaust...anything else recommended? Truck has 210,000 miles on it. Thank you all for your help!

If you're replacing the whole engine there isn't much to do that you can't do fairly easily at other times. Replace the clutch, clean up the intake, and maybe replace the fuel filter is all I would suggest. The clutch and fuel filter are hard to get to most of the time. The intake isn't bad with the engine is but as long as you have it off you might as well. Not sure if you keep your truck real clean or like getting it muddy but you could clean up the engine bay quite a bit with the engine out of there.

Thank you! I have an auto tranny or else I would do the clutch. I will probably do the engine bay, that's a good idea!

x2 on the intake it gets LOADED with sludge!! Very nasty and robs horsepower!

I would suggest flushing the radiator and heater core could do the radiator out of the truck and Heater core in the truck just use a garden hose pushed up to the heater hoses would do it a couple minutes one way then switch hoses to "back flush" them.

Aside from that I would clean engine bay like said and save a few bucks for anything that may pop up after or during install of engine.

Maybe consider new "wear" sensors (o2 sensor namely) and full tune up and thermostat (although those might be replaced as part of rebuild)

New Exhaust studs and if your installing the intake yourself would suggest a few extra bolts they break easy (I broke 6 on mine!)

What has been mentioned. I clean the sensors with a brass tooth brush and most can be checked with a multi meter to see if they are good. Check your hoses. Check and see that all grounds are clean and making good contact. There is a thread on here showing all grounds. I like to get the ground by the fuse box in the drivers kick panel too.
